Each piece is carefully assessed by a highly qualified valuer, taking into account its condition, age, craftsmanship and current market value. Please arrange to drop off your jewellery before the day of valuation, Heidi Kjeldsen Ltd will carry out the assessment of your jewellery on our premises, and you may collect your items after the day of valuation.

Our valuation portfolio is beautifully presented, with all details and photographs of your jewellery. We ask you to allow three to six weeks to complete, depending on the complexity and amount of jewellery being valued. You will not have to worry about contacting us, we will inform you as soon as your documents are ready.

Our highly qualified, independent NAJ, FIRV (National Association of Jewellers, Fellow of the Institute of Registered Valuers) will assess condition, the precious stones and metals, and value according to the current market and basis of valuation required. We charge £100 for the portfolio and that covers one item. Each subsequent items costs an additional £60. However, if any of the items are valued in excess of £10,000.00 an additional fee of 1% over that value will be charged in addition to the portfolio costs.

Why Jewellery Valuations Are Important

It’s wise to protect one’s valuable assets, such as jewellery to ensure that your cherished possessions are preserved for future generations. Jewellery is usually insured under your Household Insurance and is covered for loss or damage, including Gemstones or Diamonds.

Jewellery requires valuing for insurance protection, property division, probate matters or private sales from an established and reputable jeweller and is required today by most insurers. Having current valuation documents will leave you in a much more secure position with your insurers going forward.

Naturally, wear and tear will NOT be covered by insurance, as this is down to the individual’s care of their own jewellery, but damage or loss is insurable and therefore a wise decision to have done.

How To Get Your Jewellery Valued

Book an appointment for your Jewellery to be securely assessed in our Oakham showroom before the actual day of valuation.
Please ensure you bring any documents relating to your pieces with you as they add to the provenance of the jewellery and are therefore important, sometimes adding value.
We will check, clean your jewellery and if repairs are found to be necessary, we will advise you.
Every valuation includes a beautifully presented Portfolio with a copy for your insurers.
Book your appointment to collect your jewellery at a time to suit you after the day of valuation.

We also suggest that you approach our own insurer T.H. March, who are experts in Jewellery Insurance and who will offer you a very comprehensive insurance service. They will gladly estimate for your personal Jewellery cover, and this can often be a satisfactory solution when your Home Contents Insurance is being adversely affected by high cover for valuable items of Jewellery.
